earth intruders

this is half a series i've been working on for a couple of weeks. inspiration came from the björk song earth intruders. if you know the song then you might have more of an idea of what i was going for. it's kind of a hectic, clanging clash of amazingness. love her guts.

wild things.

this weekend past, we packed up the car and headed down to lorne to play for the day. in theory it was a styling shoot for andi's folio, but in reality it was a lovely day full of good vibes, champagne and some quasi-lesbionic action. i felt sorry for the families with small children that kept stumbling upon our secret forest territory - there were moments where it could have easily looked like we were making lesbian porn up trees.

all the pictures are for andi's folio but i pulled out a few i like most, and here they are. huge thanks to alex stones, gemma ashleigh and gideon bosua for giving up a day just for us, as well as the usual presence (although no styling this time, just company) of baden and, of course, andi - it was super nice doing a shoot where somebody else did all the organising. enjoy.

a light dusting.

here we have, once again, my dear friend julia-goolia. the aim of this shoot was to get some nice high-key/ high-contrast shots and i think i succeeded. the best part was bombing her with all the talcum powder - she kept copping it in the face and taking it like a true trooper. bless this girl and everything she does for me 'in the name of art'.

snap crackle & pop.

this is a shoot i did with gideon last week. i went into the studio kind of blind, null and void of ideas, and came out with these. i'm yet to think of the concept behind them to back my ass up come assessment time but i think they look fun nonetheless. enjoy!

dreams.

do you ever get that funny feeling where you can't remember if something that happened is real or if it was a dream? that's kind of what i was going for with these. they're meant to be portraits but they turned out kind of fashionesque.. hmm.

big thanks to vy and andi who both came on board at the very last minute to help me pull this shoot together out of nothing. and once again the styling master baden for making the girls look o-so-pretty. o, and dyl for helping my dumb ass with the lighting. enjoy!

a winter's day in kensington.

andi needed some pics to update her folio so we went on an impromptu shoot. she did all the styling from her own wardrobe and we just struck it lucky with the location. we started the day with nothing and ended it with some nice shots. i like these two.

la laverie.

i like laundromats. i don't know if it's the old, cheap 'woman's day' magazines or the eclectic mix of semi-transient people you find there that does it, but to me there always seems to be a nostalgic feeling around the places. nostalgia is nice.

vintage chanel.

i don't know whether it's the faux black diamond orchard earrings or the super soft back lighting that does it, but i totally reckon this photo of polly has an old time chanel feel to it.

ciamé.

this is ciamé - she's a rad bitch. we did a spontaneous shoot outside her house in the street when i was in brisbane. i asked her to take her shorts off because they were killing the top and she totally went pantless in public for me. that's true love. she's wearing one if my mum's vintage tops from like the 1930's - apparently you couldn't get her out of it when she was a young babe. lol.

saudi-chic.

so, this was my last fashion shoot for the semester. i was aiming for a futuristic saudi-chic kind of vibe. this was my first shoot alone in the studio and somehow i managed to figure out how to clip the background white (sans flair, clipping on her body etc.) so it looked like she was jumping into nothing. i reckon she looks like a really fun genie party-girl. i had the most amazing team in the world for this shoot. georgia mastered the makeup, baden showcased his mad skills again with the styling and renata was a star - she just kept jumping and jumping and jumping. enjoy!

girl party.

last night skye and andi had a girl party in my kitchen. the original idea was to have a bit more of an extensive series but my camera decided to be a bitchface and stop working half way through the shoot. it was super fun - we got far too drunk and danced around like a bunch of fuckwits to gaga into the wee hours of the morning. i reckon these three are a fun mini series. enjoy!

the crying girl.

this is a group assignment i did with chloë and kal for portraiture. we didn't do the best job on the lighting (meant to be low key) but i think the series worked out amazingly. we had heartbreak in the studio and the model let us photograph it.

it feels funny exploiting someone's feelings for the sake of a photograph.
